Swedish Massage: Is a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart creating a soothing relaxation.
Deep Tissue: Is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia (connective tissue). Deep tissue massage is the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will be more intense. It's more of a focused massage where the therapist tries to work out chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as "adhesions").
Myofascial release: is a gentle therapy used with stretching and massage together. The purpose is to unblock any scar tissue built up on the muscle tissues. The therapist will apply hands on strokes to release tension.
Reflexology: The application of pressure stretch to the movement of feet and hands to affect corresponding parts of the body by applying techniques. It can break up patterns of stress in other parts of the body.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone therapy is intended for relaxation. It is a brief getaway from daily stress. The stones are heated to 200 degrees in water and placed on the client's back along both sides of the spine, one stone on each side of the glutes and hamstrings and one stone is placed in each hand. After the stones are placed the client is relaxed by the heat and the body absorbs the natural minerals from the stones. The massage therapist can then massage areas of the body where stones are not placed. After fifteen to twenty minutes the stones are slowly and gently removed and placed gently back into the hot water. The client then receives a massage over those areas. Next the client will be asked to turn over, and sit up while the next batch of stones are placed on the table itself in alignment with client's spine. Client can then lay back and experience the heat again. Stones will be placed one on the stomach, one on the heart, in the hands, and thighs, and small stones on the face if desired. Repeat the fifteen to twenty minutes, then stones are removed in a relaxing and quiet fashion, finish with massaging client's body in this supine position.
